Really there's a lot of them: friends-to-enemies-to-lovers, fake dating, parents dating, dead beat dad, and grumpy sunshine. Or what is it when it's golden retriever and sunshine? Is that a trope? There are a few things on ACOFAE that stay 100% consistent: love of sisterhood, female empowerment, and freedom being just a few. So it would be a fair assumption that both Laura Marie and Jessica Marie would love this movie. This movie being about sisterhood and freedom, or the lack-thereof. Cue the surprise of a lifetime and the start of some excellent discussions about what it is to be a child, what it is to be an adult, and how hard it is to look back through nostalgia with fresh eyes. The Virgin Suicides gives us a dreamy, female centric aesthetic that tries it's best to show the elusive world of girlhood in all it's beauty and horror.
